Wildlife Experience Orangutan Tour 3d2n During Pandemic Cov-19

The orangutan species that live in Tanjung Puting National Park, Central Kalimantan is Pongo pygmaeus which is endemic to this island. The habitat continues to vanish at an extremely high rate. Taking all of this into account, orangutan rehabilitation centers have been established as to ensure the survival of this animal.

We will visit 1 orangutan feeding station in Tanjung Harapan Camp since this is the only camp reactivated by Tanjung Puting National Park Agency during the Pandemic Covid-19.  We have to follow the rules within the park and CHSE health protocol: this protocol not only for visitors but also for the tour operator, guide, boat crews, and forest ranger. Every boat equipped with a facial mask, face shield, hand sanitizer, washtafel with handsoap, and anty bacterial sprayer. Some signs such as physically distancing, health protocol in the destination, wearing a mask, etc should appear in the boat. Visitor, guide, and boat crew must show non-reactive covid-19 rapid test.

You will be invited to do some trekking in the jungle, takes around 3-4 hours, you will meet a small blackwater river. A villager is waiting for you with a small longboat, and bring you to explore the small river by paddling. Observing wildlife around the river bank using a boat. Proboscis monkey, long tail macaque, and some birds are the list of animals you may see along the ride.

Enjoying The Nature with Covid-19 Health Protocols

DAY 1 : Pangkalan Bun – Kumai – Tanjung Harapan Camp

Upon arrival in Pangkalan Bun you’ll be met and transferred to Kumai for boarding to the Kelotok. Leaving Kumai River, you’ll have an opportunity to see riverfront life. Borneo has so many rivers so boat is the main transportation here. May you also see thousand high building like hotel with tiny holes, a semi-wild swift poultry to harvest its nest.

Cruising to Sekonyer River, the estuarine habitat with unique vegetation called mangrove, before your first stop to Tanjung Harapan Camp to see Orangutan feeding at 15.00 o’clock. Watch along with the river bands for wildlife such as Proboscis Monkey-the endemic monkey in Borneo, Long-tailed Macaque, Red-leaf Monkey, Silvered Langur, or birdlife along the riverside. After watching Orangutan, then continue on cruising up for overnight in the Kelotok. You’ll have time to relax, enjoying the fresh air, or do some primate spotting in the roosting tree. Looking for a good place to have dinner beneath fireflies. If the weather good (no rain, no wind) we can see a million fireflies like a Christmas tree, but we can’t guarantee this. DAY 2 : Nipah – Tanjung Harapan Trekking – Sungai Buluh

After a sunrise breakfast, cruising up the river to Tanjung Harapan, Accompanied by Villager, you will enjoy a jungle walk for approximately 3,5 hours. It just remind us to the Birute Galdikas quote “ as I sit, my back leaning againist a damp, moss-covered tree trunk, my eyes sweeping the canopy above, my ears straining to catch the crack of a distant branch that betrays an orangutan movinng in the treetops. Your walk will meet a small balck wayer river where another man from the village waiting you with a small canoe. You will have an experience to ride a small canoe just like a locals, paddling down to the artery river in the jungle.

After having lunch, You’ll have short trekking to see the orangutan feeding for the second time in Tanjung Harapan. Orangutan feeding will be at 15.00 in the afternoon. After visiting Feeding Station, we continue downstream to see packs of Proboscis monkeys in the roosting trees. Spotting big dominant male will be really interesting. I will tell you the most 3 important to figure out a dominant male. One of them is a big nose. Stay overnight on the boat. Meals Provided B L D

DAY 3 : Sekonyer River –Kumai – Pangkalan Bun

After breakfast, continue by Kelotok down the river to Kumai. The tour still not end, you still have 2,5 hours cruising down to Sekonyer River. Still any possibilities to see wildlife. Enjoying your coffee in the boat while exploring the river in the morning, may you meet Orangutan foraging in the tree around the river bank. It will offer you an incredible experience. Long-snout Crocodile also often busking on the sun in the river bank when the weather really good. Departing Kumai about 10.00 in the morning, you’ll be transferred to Pangkalan Bun Airport, possible to visit our Orangutan souvenir and handicraft gallery before your next destination. A walking tour to see deeply about the multiculturalism in Kotawaringin Barat Regency, Pangkalan Bun.
