Orangutan Applause is a local tour operator that offers the experience of observing orangutans and wildlife in their natural habitat. Borneo Primate Tour products is our way of supporting conservation efforts for the endangered Orangutan and its globally important habitat- the tropical forests of Kalimantan. Our mission is to provide environmentally friendly green jobs opportunities for local communities through ecotourism activities to support conservation. We work with a dream: living harmony between humans and the biodiversity. As a form of our commitment to sustainable tourism activities, we strongly support environmental education activities, especially for communities around the area.
As one of our commitments to realizing natural sustainability, responding to the Climate Change and a part of our responsibility to the environment, we set aside our profits to plant a tree for each trip. Last October, Orangutan Applause collaborated with the Conservation Community Group "Tanjung Lestari". The program is called the Ecosystem Restoration Program on the Buffer Zone of Tanjung Puting National Park (TNTP). Based on Cooperation Agreement Letter No: 040/E/MBA/10/2024, we agree and take full responsibility for ecosystem restoration activities through tree restoration by planting activities. Orangutan Applause intends to support funding for the implementation of an ecosystem restoration activity program through planting trees in the TNTP buffer zone with a total of 1000 planted seedlings.
The implementation of the activities is carried out by Tanjung Lestari for a period of 6 (six) months from the signing of this agreement until March 2025. The location of the activities is in the Tanjung Lestari Arboretum area, in the Jerumbun landscape, Sei Sekonyer Village which is directly adjacent to the TNTP Area. The planting location is at coordinates S 02044'08.8" E 111052'48.9" Tanjung Lestari has prepared 13 types of local trees. Selection of tree species refers to the possibility of survival as a resident species, usefulness as a food source for wildlife, and selecting rare species that need to be preserved. The types of trees are:

Tanjung Lestari is a youth community group that was born out by loving of Sekonyer Village and concerning for the continuity of the generations. Initiating from Karang Taruna Sekonyer Village in 2017 they started their activities. Karang Taruna's activities are structured to play a greater role in nature conservation and ecosystem restoration. Armed with a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the TNTP Center and Karang Taruna Sekonyer Village, they have planted 105 hectares of forest plants in 2018-2019 period. No less than 100,000 trees were planted.
Organizational dynamics seem to be an inseparable part of the process journey. At the beginning of the 2020 pandemic, the Karang Taruna of Sekonyer Village transformed into Tanjung Lestari. It is a necessity for organizations to be able to have a wider positive impact on society. The organization is developing wings for village community empowerment programs. To date, more than 300,000 forest plant seeds have been planted and well cared for.
