Kalimantan is the largest islands in Indonesia which has enchanting natural wealth with extraordinary cultural diversity. Kalimantan has a variety of natural and cultural riches ranging from towering mountains, karst hills, large rivers, dense rainforests with amazing trees and wildlife. On the other hand, various tribes with diverse cultures and traditions also live in Kalimantan, such as the Dayak, Malay and Banjar. One of the largest ethnic groups in Kalimantan is the Dayak, such as the Iban, Kayan, Kenyah, Ngaju, Punan and Ot Danum, who have history, philosophical values, traditions and various very interesting performances.
Explore Kalimantan Fair (XKF) was previously held in 2023 with the theme "Berau & Kapuas Hulu Telling Stories". XKF 2023 received a very positive response from various parties involved and participants or visitors who attended. This activity succeeded in highlighting the wealth of Kalimantan to a fairly wide audience. The Indonesia Ecotourism Network (INDECON) supported by TFCA (Tropical Forest Conservation Act) held the second XKF 2024 on this November. The theme is natural and cultural wealth for future generations. This event presented various activities such as tourism & craft product exhibitions, talk shows, storytelling, art performances and art demonstrations from various regions in Kalimantan.

XKF 2024 has the following objectives: 1. Introducing the natural riches and cultural diversity of Kalimantan to the audience, 2. Improve the image and promotion of Kalimantan tourism products, 3. Educate visitors and an the audience about the potential of Kalimantan
On Friday, November 1, 2024 there is an Indonesian Ecotourism Network Meeting, attended by tourism stakeholders and practitioners from over Indonesia, Thailand, and Australia. Held in Tebet Ecopark, over 200 people share the knowledge and gathering to strengthening the network. Then continuing on November 2 till 3, XKF 2024 held in Sarinah Mall Jakarta. This event is more special since held together with Indonesian Ecotourism Fair- the first Ecotourism Exhibition in Indonesia. The target visitors at the Explore Kalimantan Fair 2024 are the central government, regional governments present, tour operators, tourist village/tourist attraction managers, ecotourism activists, adventure tourism fans, local craft fans, cultural observers, and general visitors to Sarinah Mall.
The Explore Kalimantan Consortium got the widest booth right in front of the relief and the escalator. This place is very strategic considering the entrance route for visitors who want to go upstairs, the route for visitors from above who will go to the food court area, as well as the route for visitors who will use the rest room. The consortium was attended by Yok Kita Adventure West Kalimantan: Mrs. Dewi Safitri, Central Kalimantan: AA Tour Borneo Mr. Kornelius Agustinus, Orangutan Applause Pangkalan Bun Arif Nugroho, East Kalimantan: Kalimantan Tour Guide Mrs. Nilawarti, and East Kalimantan: Travydoor represented by Ms. Maya Riri. Meanwhile, another member, Alexa Scuba, was unable to attend because he was on duty for diving training in Ambon. Displayed the products of all 6 tour operators from the Explore Kalimantan Consortium members which have been curated by Indecon. Printed business cards containing the contacts of the 6 tour operators and scanned barcodes affiliated with the product catalogs of all consortium members are provided. The advantages of this method are that it is very practical, cheap and easy to remember, the paper is printed small, reversible, easy to carry and for visitors who want further information they can easily scan the barcode to find out the details of the products available. But it's easy. Some superior products are provided in printed form so that visitors have a better idea of the tourism product.
During 2 days exhibition, at least more than 500 people visited the Explore Kalimantan booth. From this number, 165 visitors held discussions and were introduced to Explore Kalimantan products. The composition of visitors is also diverse, 80 are domestic visitors, while 20% are foreign visitors. The most recorded foreign visitors were Malaysia, Australia, Russia, Scotland, Austria, Thailand, Spain, China, Korea, and several countries that were not well recorded. One visitor, who seemed to be a tour agency, asked for an itinerary from Central to Eastern Kalimantan for 15 days for 4-6 people. This is good news that the travel pattern for Explore Kalimantan is starting to attract market demand. Even though there have been no real transactions, 165 visitors are a potential share. They plan to visit Kalimantan someday. What is quite a concern is that many domestic visitors are curious and want to know about the many tourist products around the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) and have quite a big desire to visit. Apart from that, the keywords Orangutan, Kelotok and Tanjung Putting are often mentioned directly because they have seen them in vlogs, social media and stories from friends. Several visitors also said that they had visited Tanjung Puting in the last 2 years. For foreign tourists, the Dayak tribe is often asked about. Derawan Island with diving activities also often appears as a topic of discussion.
